I stepped into the role of friend and bystander and saw that everything isn't black and white. In a mere 300 pages, I gained empathy not only for the bullied but also for the bully. It shifted my perspective and opened my heart to a new understanding. When I finished the book I was utterly speechless. I am not exaggerating when I say that reading Wonder changed my life. And if you haven't, get off the Internet right now and go read it.
If you've read it, you know exactly what I mean. Palacio's masterpiece that hasn't already been preached? Wonder is simply one of those books that imprints on your heart and forever alters your life. This is what I think this precept means.What can I say about R.J. You have to think about others before yourself. When you’re kind, you’re helping someone out. You can be right without anyone being in the problem. Sometimes, being right is only about what you think. In another way, you might be arrogant, rude, or you might be bragging. Being kind will help others and help you as well.
He should of treated August like he would of treated himself. Instead of telling them what they got wrong, you could say “Good job!” Here is another example, this time in the story: Julian asked August if he had been in a fire. You see your friend over there and he didn’t do that great. I have an example: Let’s say you do good in a test. The precept is: “When given the choice from being right and being kind, CHOOSE KIND.” This precept means you have to be kind. August’s class has to write about what this precept means. He was home-schooled for the beginning days of his life and now he has to go to school. It’s about this kid named August whose face doesn’t exactly look the same as ours. My class and I are reading a book called Wonder.
